POEA issues new guidelines for direct hiring of Filipinos

 

The POEA has recently released Memorandum Circular No. 4 Series of 2007 which provides new guidelines for directly hiring Filipino workers.

The new guidelines which covers certain groups of individual and institutional employers provides for several pre-qualifications.

Some of the pre-qualification for employers includes (1) No derogatory track record at the jobsite and in the Philppines; (2) No involvement of an intermediary in the recruitment process whether in the Philippines or in the jobsite; (3) submission of documentary requirements.

The employers who are directly hiring Filipino workers shall submit their request for direct hiring to the Philippine Overseas Labor Office for pre-qualification.

Although the guidelines is dated December 18, 2007 and has been posted on the POEA web site, there has been no mention on the POEA web site as to when the guidelines will be executory.
