A Muslim group on Friday thanked the Ortigas family for providing a space for prayer to serve as mosque in Greenhills, San Juan.
Almarim Centi Tillah, secretary general of the Philippine Muslim Leaders Forum and president of the Islamic society, Parhimpunan sin Islam, said the act of building a mosque will greatly benefit Muslim communities in the country.
"It is a demonstration of a more human and Christian-like attitude and concern," he said.
Tillah added that the initiative of the family has bridged the widening gap between Christian and Muslim cultures, which for the long years have been at odds with each other due to their differing traditions in the Philippine society and culture.
"This is the only part of a flickering hope that remains in the sanctuary of a Christian nation where human society has increasingly become a slave to Christian bigotry, injustices, terrorism, corruption, and immorality," he pointed out.
Reacting to the opposition to build an R8-million Muslim mosque right in Greenhills shopping center, Tillah said that certain people have no right to "smash on the integrity of the Filipino Muslims and their Islam faith.??
"There is nothing left for Muslims like us who have believed for a long time that we are part of the Filipino nation, but to join hands, mind and soul with those who seek a better place," he said.
"It is certainly the better part of wisdom and prudence that people with minds should not be allowed to continue with the quest for the unholy Grail.??
