Danilo Vista of 2171 Floral Creations in Ortigas, and the other young floral designers were champions for their categories during the 2nd Andre Awards for Excellence in Floral Design, a competition that recognizes the creativity and outstanding work of the country’s best florists.

This is organized by Agrikultura Pilipina, Inc. (API), with support from the Netherlands Management Cooperation Program (Nederland Programma Uitzending Managers), Federation of Cutflower & Ornamental Plant Growers of the Philippines, Inc. and Flower Club Philippines, Inc.

Danilo Vista and Ma. Teresa Robles of Mc Bombeth’s Flower Shop in Balanga City, Bataan, topped their categories during the competition held recently at the Convention Hall of the Bureau of Solis & Water Management along Elliptical Road corner Visayas Ave., Q.C.

For the level 1 category, Alfredo Baral of Flowertowne, Inc. Legazpi Village, Makati City, won first runner-up, while Fidelito Apostol, a hobbyist from Valenzuela City, was second runner-up.

Christopher Rompe of Fresh Blossoms in Los Baños was first runner-up for the level II category, while Wilfredo Tongco of Floridella Flower Shop was second runner-up.

Prior to the competition, the participants underwent a two-day seminar and workshop called "A Challenge to Creativity" under the guidance of Dutch floral design master Piet Vellekoop who shared his knowledge about latest developments in the flower design industry as well as contemporary floral designs for all occasions.
